Provide access to scientific calculators. Assign students to groups of 4. Give groups 3–4 minutes to sort the points. Assign each group to continue working with the points that are either 6.5 units, 8.5 units, or 10 units away from the center. Give groups additional work time to complete the remaining questions before the whole-group discussion.
